GREAT SCOT! BRIGG DINERS HAVE A CHOICE OF BURNS NIGHT EVENTS

Brigg Blog having already posted advance notice of a local Burns Night celebration coming up later this month, we were interested to see that a second is planned.
The events are on successive days, which seemed a shade surprising until we looked it up and discovered that although Thursday, January 25  is the official Burns Night 2018 it's OK to celebrate the life of the famous bard (poet) of Scotland "on or around" that date.
The Jolly Miller pub/restaurant, on Brigg Road, Wrawby, pictured above, will be hosting a Burns Night meal on Thursday, January 25.
The haggis will be brought in the traditional way with a piper in attendance.
Bookings are now being taken at £25 a head, with "a wee dram to bring in the haggis."
Call 01652 655658 to secure a place or find out additional information.
The Rotary Club of Brigg will be hosting its Burns Night function in the Angel Suite, pictured below, on Friday, January 26, from 7pm.
Tickets cost £25 with sumptuous three-course dinner and after-dinner entertainment.
A licensed bar will operate, and those attending are asked to don kilts or black tie wear.
Fans of neeps, tatties and a drop of the hard stuff can get tickets from Grandad's Shed, on Wrawby Street, Brigg, or by calling 07519330432.

For the punctuation pedants among us, it appears that Burns Night is the way the Scots prefer to write it, rather than Burns' Night. They "Rab" him of the apostrophe!
