BRIGG BLOG 'GLAD' TO GET OUT FOR A NEW YEAR MEAL & A FEW DRINKS

A dozen people came to Brigg on Friday (January 5) for a new year meal to mark one the Scunthorpe Telegraph senior reporters departing for a  new job in public relations.
We wish her well!
Brigg Blog met some of the group in the Dying Gladiator, on Bigby Street, for a couple of drinks before setting off for the Mumbai Lounge, on Old Courts Road, where an excellent Asian cuisine 'spread' was enjoyed in the upstairs dining area at what was formerly Harry Kar's renowned Chinese eatery.
The party then moved on to the nearby Black Bull for a couple of further rounds, where we were pleased to meet up with a few current Brigg Hockey Club players who (unlike us) have yet to hang up their sticks and retire.
We saw the most senior member of our party safely into his taxi on Elwes Street, and there was just time for a night cap in the Gladiator before walking home at the end of an enjoyable evening.
We were pleased that some Brigg businesses received a welcome boost to their takings during what is traditionally a quiet time.
Clearly not everyone had spent up over Christmas!
