SUGGESTED DAY OUT USING BRIGG LINE TRAINS

The campaigning Friends of the Brigg Line have informed us of a railway-related event of interest that's coming up.
They hope that folk from Brigg will take a train from our town station and pay it a visit.
There's a Model Railway Exhibition on Saturday and Sunday, November 18 and 19 at Retford Town Hall, from 10am.
Brigg people can board the 11.47 train at our station (platform two).
It will get into the North Nottinghamshire town at 12.27.
The exhibition venue is 15 minutes' walk from there.
The return train leaves Retford Low Level at 4.47pm, getting back to Brigg at 5.26pm.

Trains along the Brigg Line do NOT run on Sundays.
Some of us are old enough to remember the building of the Low Level platforms at Retford.
Prior to those being introduced in the mid-1960s, all trains  went to and from the main High Level station at Retford, which is on the east coast mainline from London King's Cross to York and Scotland.
The so-called dive-under reduced the load on the main platforms but was mainly for the benefit of coal trains to power stations near the River Trent.
