THIS 'OLD HOUSE' IN BRIGG HAS AN INTERESTING HISTORY

Josie Webb - well-known in Brigg for her extensive knowledge of the town's history and hard work over many years with the BASH historians' group - was interested in our recent post about listed building consent being granted by North Lincolnshire Council for an historic property on Bigby Street.
Josie tells Brigg Blog: "I believe this building was once belonging to the now Exchange; it was built for "a man of substance" who was a solicitor in the late 1700s and was known as 'The Old House'. I am not sure when it was sold off."
The council has given approval for the Hetts Johnson Whiting solicitors' practice to replace sliding sash windows with new timber ones at No 11, which is next to the Exchange Coach House Inn, pictured below - another historic property.

The solicitors' office can just be seen on the left of our view.
