A renowned Brigg sporting achievement happened in July - one that is still remembered with pride today by those locals who were there to witness it.
This was of the giantkilling kind and next July will see the 40th anniversary.
So how about a reunion at the White Horse pub?
Brigg Town Cricket Club - then playing in division three of the Broughton Evening League - beat top division one team Messingham in the Knockout Cup final, played at Broughton.
The margin was a very narrow two runs.
Brigg won three games to get to the final, following which there were celebrations at the White Horse, where Tom Merriman was the landlord.
The large, silver Dinsdale Trophy was filled several times to toast Brigg's very unlikely triumph.
This picture shows one of the individual trophies given to all members of the Brigg Town team.
We have kept ours safe and sound for all these years. It has pride of place in our obviously limited collection of honours gained during 30 years playing for the Brigg club.
Bob Goulby was instrumental in a run out from the final ball of the final to clinch victory.
We will look to organise a reunion at the White Horse next July. Meanwhile, the hunt will begin in our archives for the scorecard from the 1978 final. And how many of the Hunt brothers played in the big match? We still see Martin and Graham in Brigg from time to time but haven't had a word with Keith since the White Horse FC reunion at Wetherspoon's last December.
Messingham Cricket Club is still one of the best in North Lincolnshire, its top team being in the top division of the Lincolnshire County Cricket League, while Brigg Town play in the lowest - division four.
The Broughton Evening League no longer functions - a sad loss to local sport.
