WILL BRIGG FOLK EVER ENJOY ALL THE FUN OF THE FAIR AGAIN?

We seem to recall that a funfair used to visit Brigg about this time of year.
But will we ever see it return to the town?
The last location was on the Old Courts Road car park but it occupied a lot of spaces shoppers might have used.
Prior to that, it used the old lorry wash site off Atherton Way. But that is now occupied by the new Lidl store.
Going further back in time, to the 1960s and 1970s, the funfair used the old Horse Fair Paddock - since taken over by sheltered housing and the re-routed A18.
It's difficult to think of current site in Brigg that might be used by a funfair. But Scunthorpe town centre and Ashby still have them every year. So clearly there's still a demand from the fun-seeking public.
Our archive picture, taken by Ken Harrison, shows people enjoying all the fun of the fair in Brigg some years ago.
