WHEN BRIGG PUB OWNER'S HORSE WON THE GRAND NATIONAL

Today being Grand National Day gives us the chance to reflect on the year when a horse with local connections won the world-famous race.
Sheila's Cottage - a rank outsider - won in 1948, being owned by Johnny Proctor who had the Lord Nelson pub in the Market Place.
Would it bring good luck for punters today if they had a pint in the Nelson before visiting one of our local bookies and placing a bet on the 2017 epic?
