IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR LEISURE CENTRE USERS IN BRIGG AREA

Councillor Rob Waltham, deputy leader of North Lincolnshire Council, told Brigg Town Council colleagues this week about a temporary closure of a main facility which is coming up over the Christmas and New Year period at Ancholme Leisure Centre, Scawby Brook.
He said: "The pool is to have new filters fitted; it will close on the 19th December and reopen on the 10th January."
The council has since supplied Brigg Blog with the following details...
The pool at Ancholme Leisure Centre is to close temporarily from Monday 19 December until 16 January 2017 for the filters to be changed. The other facilities at Ancholme Leisure Centre will be open as usual.
Coun Carl Sherwood, Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing at North Lincolnshire Council. said: “The pool filters have developed leaks due to their age and condition. They are 40 years old and will not last forever.
“We regret the disruption to pool users. Updating the filters now means we are less likely to experience unexpected disruption in the future.”

A spokesman for the authority added that if a child usually attends swimming lessons at Ancholme Leisure Centre, parents will not be charged for the missed two weeks and swim-only membership holders who usually use the Ancholme facility will be contacted directly.
