BRIGG PUB COULD BE GIVEN SPECIAL STATUS

An historic Brigg pub could be given special status, having been nominated as An Asset of Community Value.
North Lincolnshire Council - the local licensing and planning authority - is now considering an application made for the Britannia Inn, on Wrawby Street.
At its latest meeting, Brigg Town Council confirmed it had been notified of this request.
In line with a section of the Localism Act 2011, if a building is  declared a community asset, the local community is given time come up with a bid to buy if placed on the market.

A handful of pubs in North Lincolnshire are already on the local register of assets, including the Wheatsheaf at Hibaldstow.

North Lincolnshire Council will announce its decision on "The Brit" in due course.
The pub is Victorian and was operated by Brigg's very own Sutton & Bean Brewery.
Now a Marston's hostelry, it is within the Brigg Conservation Area.
