A big crowd attended the Brigg Christmas lights switch-on, District Lions' Festive Fair and late night shopping event last night (Friday, December 2, 2016).
Early evening rain failed to dampen the spirits of those who supported Brigg's biggest spectator event of the year.
A Christmas wish of many years came true for Town Mayor Coun  Ann Eardley, who got to push the button to illuminate the colourful LED bulbs furnished by Brigg Town Council for townsfolk and visitors to enjoy over the coming weeks.
Cast members from Grimsby's civic pantomime joined the Town Mayor and Town Clerk Claire Davis on the stage for the switch-on ceremony.
As ever, handfuls of sweets were thrown to eager youngsters gathered in the Market Place.
After the switch-on, people of all ages toured the varied stalls of the Christmas Fair and made the tills ring merrily in local shops, fast food outlets and pubs.
Congratulations to everyone involved in staging the event on a job well done.
Brigg Blog sampled a pint in Dexters Ale House Kitchen and a couple more down at the Britannia, as we made our way home.
Joining us - cameras in hand - on the night were Ken Harrison, chairman of the Brigg Matters newsletter, and David Haber, long-serving photographer at the Scunthorpe Telegraph.
You can view some of David's fine pictures taken during last night's Brigg event THROUGH THIS LINK
