BRIGG TRAIN PROVIDER PLANS TO TRANSFORM OUR LOCAL RAILWAY

Brigg Blog was delighted to receive an email today from our railway line's passenger train provider, Northern, entitled We Are Tranforming.
The company told us: "We've started our journey to transform your local railway in the North by the end of 2019 and there's lots to look forward to. From on-board WiFi to extra services, take a look at our customer report to find out what we have achieved so far and what we will be delivering over the next three years."
Here's the link....
An improvement on the number of trains and the number of days of the week on which they run would be wonderful. Currently, Brigg station only sees six Saturday trains each week.

All very well but the email is just a broad brush statement of intent with particular regard to the core services operated by Northern. Unfortunately the more peripheral routes will benefit less with some seeing little other than the disappearance of the detested "Pacer" units, even though this alone could be seen as a big plus and not before time. As the Brigg line is rather peripheral to the periphery I see no cause for celebration unless the message being hammered home by such local advocacy as exist, notably "G.R.A.B." and Railfuture is listened to, although the view of officialdom varies greatly with that of the pro rail groups/public transport groups in the area. .

Unless a rail route provides direct access to Leeds or Manchester you can forget about any service improvements
