BRIGG FOOTBALLERS TO CONCENTRATE ON THE LEAGUE

The old football manager's cliche suggests they should now concentrate on the league.
We are talking about Briggensians FC, who play their home games at Sir John Nelthorpe School, Brigg.
Yesterday (Saturday, November 19) the Brigg lads lost 4-0 away to A.F.C. Queensway in the third round of the Johnstone Insurance Nursing Cup, organised by the  T.S.W. Printers Scunthorpe & District Football League.
Second-in-the-table Briggensians will return to division three action this coming Saturday (November 26) with an afternoon home fixture against Crosby Colts Reserves on the SJN field.
Division three leaders Barnetby United Reserves, whose fortunes Brigg Blog is also following this season, won 5-3 at Santon yesterday, courtesy of a hat-trick from Will Dawson and further goals by Liam Dawson and Shaun Clark.
In their next outing on Saturday, Barnetby Reserves will be away to Shape Changers.
Division three's league table has a rather strange look to it at present.
Briggensians have played only four league fixtures, while the team immediately below them - third-placed Epworth Town Colts Blues, have managed TEN.
By the season's end next April, things will have equalled out, of course.
