NEW BRIGG STORE COULD BE APPROVED WITHIN DAYS

A new Aldi store proposed for Brigg could get the go-ahead next week.
Planning permission is being sought for a site off Bridge Street. And North Lincolnshire Council's planning committee is about to make a decision.
Planning officers within the local authority are recommending that the committee, comprising elected councillors from across the district, grants permission.
A report prepared for the committee says: "Based on the information submitted in the planning and retail statement, it is considered that the need for the development has been demonstrated, that there are no alternative sequentially preferable sites available in Brigg town centre to accommodate the proposal, the site is within easy walking distance of the town centre (in an accessible location) and  there is the potential for linked trips, particularly given the prominent location of the site."
The report says: "The main issues in the determination of this planning application are the principle of development (incorporating the impact on Brigg town centre), design, highway issues, impact on residential amenity and flood risk.
During the consultation period for this application, 48 letters of support for the store were submitted, with two letters of objection/comment.
The application submitted by Aldi & Ancholme Estates will be considered by the planning committee when it meets in the Council Chamber at Scunthorpe Civic Centre, off Ashby Road, on Wednesday, September 21.
The meeting starts at 2pm and is open to interested members of the public.
This is classed as a major application by the council.
