TRAVELLER FROM CHINA USES BRIGG LINE TRAIN SERVICE

FROM PAUL JOHNSON, STATION PORTFOLIO MANAGER, GAINSBOROUGH, RETFORD & BRIGG BUS AND RAIL GROUP (GRaB), pictured above at our station on Saturday morning

Brigg line services on Saturday (August 20) were not as busy as last week due to The Great British weather!
However, the 0803 Sheffield Midland to Cleethorpes train left Brigg at least 80% full.
An issue has arisen over the North Lincolnshire bus pass. Holders of these are entitled to 50% off a rail fare in a designated area, this included Gainsborough Central but for some reason when a fare-paying passenger tried to purchase this ticket as he had done the week before, the guard's ticket machine would not let him.
From 10th September, all fares on the Brigg Line will be reduced between £2 and £3. This will guarantee a better and more robust fare structure. However, the fare of £9.10p between Gainsborough Central and Brigg is still is too high looking how the fares are based due to mileage.
Eleven customers boarded the 0803 Sheffield Midland to Cleethorpes service at Kirton Lindsey at 0915.
We found out later this was an arranged trip led by a local councillor after Brigg Line Guides were posted through letter-boxes advertising the line.
A Brigg resident also reported that one youngster from China got off at Brigg, in error. He was bound for Lincoln but had limited English and so the resident did the right thing and got the car out to put him on the right route at Barnetby.
