BRIGG CRICKETER PERFORMS VERY RARE FEAT

Brigg Town Cricket Club turned in another super performance with the ball yesterday in the fourth division of the Lincolnshire County Cricket League and remain on track for promotion.
Tom Brock was again the star bowler, grabbing six for 14 and performing the coveted hat-trick by clean bowling three of the batsmen from Cleethorpes 4ths with successive deliveries.
Hat-tricks in club cricket are rare but to bowl all three victims is a very rare feat indeed.
Cleethorpes, who were visiting Brocklesby Park for Brigg's home fixture, were skittled for 20 in only 11 overs, Nick Beacock taking the other four wickets to fall at a personal cost of just five runs.
Earlier, Brigg made 139 for nine in their 45 overs, Matthew Bell finishing unbeaten on 79.
For Cleethorpes, former Lincolnshire Minor Counties bowler Jeff Todd claimed five for 49.
Brigg Town Cricket Club's greatest ever hat-trick performance came in 1979 when Garry "Gig" Smith performed the feat TWICE in the same innings, on his way to taking nine wickets in a victory over Caistor. That season saw Brigg go on to clinch promotion as champions of division three.
