ENJOY BRIGG DELIGHTS ON NATIONAL CREAM TEA DAY

Today (Friday, June 24) is National Cream Tea Day. We assume many Brigg people and some of our food-serving businesses will be taking part.
Go on, spoil yourself, but make sure you add a good spoonful of jam.
It's just a shame that the renowned Spring's preserves factory, beside the Old River Ancholme, is no longer going. It was a major employer but closed in the 1970s.
However, the terracota Spring's Delights sign (above), preserved from the old building, lives on, having been built into the side wall of what's now the B&M store in Brigg, overlooking the river.
And while on the topic of fruit, we also note....
"Well Dressed Strawberries for sale. Eat in or take away. Treat yourself. Available at Velvet Brown inside The Ivy, opposite the main car park in Old Courts Road."
