BRIGG LADY CYCLISTS MAY BE INTERESTED

North Lincolnshire Council is on the lookout for more women to come forward and become Breeze champions and lead bike rides in North Lincolnshire - encouraging other women to improve their cycling skills.
Do you love cycling? Are you passionate about getting your local community on a bike? Then you would make the ideal Breeze champion.
The Breeze network is British Cycling’s exciting programme to get more women riding bikes for fun. Led by women, for women, Breeze relies on a hugely important group of volunteer champions to make the programme happen.
We are currently looking to recruit new champions to lead rides in North Lincolnshire. You don’t need to be a cycling expert, just be confident on a bike and keen to help others. We are looking for enthusiastic people to get involved in the Breeze network and inspire women to get more out of their bike, have fun with friends and get a recognised qualification at the same time!
To become a Breeze champion:
  • You will take part in a fun one-day ride leadership course where you will have a chance to meet like-minded women.
  • The certificate qualifies you to independently plan, deliver and promote rides to groups of women.
  • In addition to free training they will provide you with a Breeze kit, British Cycling ride membership and plenty of support along the way.
  • To ensure you are able to deliver safe bike rides British Cycling will support you to gain a first aid qualification.
In return, British Cycling asks the champions to deliver on average 12 rides over the year to local women in North Lincolnshire.
If you are interested in becoming a Breeze ride leader, please get in touch with Lindsay Heathfield by emailing Lindsay.heathfield@northlincs.gov.uk or call 01724 297267.
The Breeze champion course is on 14 May.
Coun Carl Sherwood, from Brigg, Cabinet Member for Customer Services, Sport and Leisure, said: “Cycling is become increasingly popular so it is brilliant that British Cycling is continuing to provide cycling opportunities in North Lincolnshire. The Breeze rides are aimed at encouraging more women to take up cycling and all the rides are led by women. We are now looking to plan the Breeze rides over the next year and need more Breeze champions. If you have a passion or interest for cycling, why not become a Breeze bike leader?
“There will also be other opportunities from British Cycling, not just for women over the coming months. Take a look at the Sky Ride website for details, www.goskyride.com.”
