BRIGG TOWN BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP SUMMER UPDATE

Briggstock 2015
Brigg Town Business Partnership is running the popular acoustic music festival, Briggstock, for a 4th year, on September 5th 2015.  With thanks again to James Truepenny and friends for organizing the musical  line up for the main stage and three of the busking stations; this in the midst of his Mayoral year!
For the first time the event has attracted a major sponsor, Brown & Co who are very keen to support the local community and in particular Brigg Town Business Partnership. The ever popular Briggstock t-shirts are now on sale promoting the not-to-be-missed event on the 5th September. Available from  Retro Revolution in School Court in Brigg.

Exciting new Brigg map leaflet launched
Seventy- seven businesses in Brigg have subscribed to a new map leaflet promoting its strong community of independent businesses The launch  of this eye-catching leaflet 'Brigg's Independent Shops' was made available for the Lincolnshire show; when for the first time and at the invitation of Margaret Price and her team, the Partnership was promoting all its members on its own stall within the” Discover North Lincolnshire” marquee.  The new leaflet is an exciting initiative which promotes the uniqueness of Briggs business community using a map where subscribing businesses are listed and numbered on the local map. It is intended to be renewed at least yearly to allow the partnership to keep it up to date.
The leaflets themselves will be made available through leaflet boxes that are easily accessible at each of the ‘gateways’ to Brigg (car parks, bus and train stations) these together with newly proposed map information boards will make it impossible to arrive from out of town and not be aware of the great experience that Brigg has to offer.

 “The Arches” project.
A public consultation in July gave an unequivocal and enthusiastic green light to pursue the placement of arches and signs to promote the historic courts and yards of Brigg. Strongly supported and welcomed by Andrew Percy MP and the Brigg Town Mayor, Councilor James Truepenny, the meeting  selected commissioned arch designs and motifs produced by students from North Lindsey College. With this strong backing from the meeting work is already underway on the engineering, planning and funding of the arches. As well as celebrating the individual courts and yards and the businesses that trade there they will improve the visual impact of the town for those who use the Old Courts car park. The partnership is working very hard to support the businesses in the courts as well as encouraging those businesses that do have land to keep it looking nice and tidy.

Make Christmas 2015 the Best Christmas Ever!
Brigg Town Business Partnership is aiming to launch a Christmas Campaign starting in September with an exciting programme of events and activities – including workshops by Corin Birchall of Kerchingretail culminating in our sixth Christmas Window Competition, prizes to be awarded by Andrew Percy MP on Saturday, 19th December.
We will also be looking to “Kick start 2016”! led by Corin to get over the after Christmas blues!
Finally the first “Brigg Christmas Posada”. It borrows the idea of commemorating Mary and Joseph's journey to Bethlehem from Spanish and Mexican traditions and makes it special to Brigg. The journey will start at the Brigg Christmas Fair on Friday, 4th December, and ending on Christmas Eve in St Johns Church, figures of Mary and Joseph will be hosted at various resting places provided by the community including its retail outlets.
The Brigg Town Business Partnership would like to give special thanks to Brown and Co for their generous sponsorship and support which is greatly appreciated.
Our program could not be put on without the unstinting work of our enthusiastic and hardworking committee; it’s subscribing members, and the collaboration of Brigg Town Council, North Lincolnshire Council and friends including Brigg Rotary. The partnership is looking for more local  representatives to work with the committee. Please approach the contacts below in the first instance
Huge thanks go to all - Brigg Town Business Partnership.

I was at the meeting and I voted on the notion that the courts and passageways would benefit from some sort of creative and decorative structure, which would attract increased footfall
Personally, I was disappointed at the level of creative thought and with the emphasis on arches, which all looked very similar apart from the name and symbol.
Some folks indicated that the arches were designed by students from NL College and seemed to imply that, as such, should be exempt from constructive criticism.
Somebody mentioned that the focus of these 'arches' should be sited where there are shops...and not necessary at the entrance of every passageway.
Another, indicated that the names needed to read from either side.
Personally, I would suggest that the concentration on the idea of 'arches' should be changed to 'a creative structure' to suit the individual history of a court and to comply with varying character of the existing buildings at the specific passage/court.
