BRIGG FOLK TO ENJOY DAY AT THE RACES

It’s Newcomers’ Day at the races in Lincolnshire this weekend and we expect many people from the Brigg area to attending, especially if the sun shines.
Market Rasen Racecourse is laying on a spring welcome for all visitors on Sunday, especially those spectators who may never have been to the races before.
There will be behind-the-scenes tours including into the inner sanctum of the weighing room, opportunities to meet a jockey and the clerk of the course, plus the chance to win tickets to the racecourse’s Sir Tom Jones concert on Saturday, 15th August.
Nadia Gollings, General Manager of Market Rasen Racecourse, said: “Our annual Newcomers’ Day is one that many people always enjoy.  Sundays are traditionally family days at Market Rasen, and we hope the racing and the trackside events will entice regular and new visitors, especially as it is a great chance for a day out with all accompanied under 18s admitted free of charge.
“We know some people find horse racing a complex sport, and on this day we try to answer all their questions - though sadly even we cannot include finding all the winners of the races!”
The first race is due off at 2pm, with gates open two hours before that.  Admission for adults is from £6.75 in advance, with all accompanied under 18s getting in free of charge.  More information can be found online at http://marketrasen.thejockeyclub.co.uk
