D-DAY FOR BRIGG HOME PLANS

Most Brigg planning applications these days are delegated to North Lincolnshire Council officers to decide. But tomorrow (Wednesday, March 11) will see one ruled upon by the Planning Committee of elected councillors from across the district.
The March meeting of the committee, to be held in the Civic Centre, off Ashby Road, Scunthorpe, will consider whether to grant planning permission to erect a detached bungalow on land adjacent to 16 Bigby High Road, Brigg.
The applicant, Mr J. Lawton, has requested to address the committee before it decides.
Council planning staff make recommendations to the committee, and in this case they think the application should be refused. However, the power to say 'yes' or 'no' rests with the councillors.
A report prepared by planning staff for the committee considers the proposed development to be unacceptable "as it would result in a cramped form of  development that would be out of keeping with the surrounding settlement pattern and would have a significant and adverse impact upon the character and appearance of the area and street scene."
Tomorrow's meeting in the Council Chamber starts at 2pm and will be chaired by Coun Arthur Bunyan, of Broughton. Members of the public may attend.
