BRIGG BIRD OF PREY ENDS TWITTER

The twittering of birds ended when a sparrowhawk turned up in our part of Brigg the other afternoon.
It was only the second we'd ever seen in our suburban area of town.
The bird of prey perched on the top of a fence for some minutes before flying off.
Two hours later there was still no sign of small birds returning to their usual haunts. Nor could you hear the familiar background twittering. All we had was the sound of silence.

Not surprising, Nige...would you put your head above the parapet and burst into song when there was a serial killer on the loose?
