The future of Brigg.....one quite interesting suggestion, but very controversial, that someone made to me recently was the radical notion of extending the Old Courts Road, by the car-park, towards Springs Way.
The hypothetical idea would need the demolition of the Serviceman's Club and the toilet block in Cary Lane.
Initially, perhaps a seemingly mad idea, but the Serviceman's Club is on prime retail land....and given the proper incentive, the club could afford to relocate to another site.
At a stroke, the scruffy backyards of the shops on Wrawby St would enormously increase in value...and the road would become a prime redevelopment zone in extending the the town's retail and trading importance.
Brigg has got to develop over the next generations - otherwise the town will die as retail outlets move to zones outside the town.
It initially appeared to be a pie in the sky, a rather silly idea, but there is a very strong argument in favour of what suggested....
