BRIGG TOWN FC 0 BEDWORTH UNITED 2 - EVO-STIK LEAGUE DIVISION ONE SOUTH

MATCH REPORT BY BOB TAYLOR
In a poor game against lowly Bedworth United on Saturday, Brigg Town missed the opportunity of moving further up the league and presented their opponents with a chance of moving clear  from the bottom of the  table.
Josh Nichol was back in the attack along with Kieran McCaffrey and the game began with a couple of early attacks by the home team winning a free kick and left wing throw respectively but these were cleared.
Another foul against Elliot Broughton by the uncompromising Mark Branch set up an opportunity for Will Peers  but again the ball was cleared from the penalty area. Bedworth's first attack came down the left wing with Andrew Westwood moving the ball on to Ben Steane but Rob Zand held on to his cross.
Jack Bowskin conceded a free kick but Daniel Dubitat's effort was blocked. There was little to talk about as the team's came off at half time after a really poor forty-five minutes but Josh Nichol suffered with a scrape down the back of his leg as he walked in.
The second half was not much better than the first but the visitors opened the scoring five minutes after the break.
An attempted clearance from the Brigg defence was sliced to MITCHELL PIGGON, who controlled the ball neatly before turning to fire it into the far corner of the net.
Brigg's response came from a free kick outside the penalty area from Scott Matthews but his shot at goal was parried by 'keeper James Hogarth-Wren before he eventually got hold of the ball.
hen Danny Buttle delivered his first telling cross from the left wing into the penalty area but the ball was cleared.
Bedworth then scored a second goal after sixty-seven minutes when Scott Hellewell's attempted  pass back to Rob Zand fell short and MITCHELL PIGGON nipped in to take possession before knocking the ball into the back of the net from close range.
Brigg were unable to get a single shot on goal before time ran out and Danny Buttle's frustration led to a red card being shown in added time as the visitors secured the three precious points.
