BRIGG RELIEF ROAD TO HELP SPRINGBANK ESTATE

Freeman of Brigg, former long-serving town councillor Tom Glossop, told the Annual Town Public Meeeting in the Angel Suite that he was very disappointed the proposed relief road from the A18 on Wrawby Road to the Springbank estate was no longer looking likely. He suggested such a link road was "the only real solution."
A relief road is still planned, but rather than running it from opposite Churchill Avenue, North Lincolnshire Council is now looking to create a route from Grammar School Road through to Atherton Way. Traffic will then be able to get to the A18 via the Ancholme Way roundabout.
This fits in with plans to build a new secondary school, with a new bus park nearby.
Coun Rob Waltham, who is a member of the cabinet at the North Lincolnshire authority as well as being a member of Brigg Town Council, told the meeting: "There are some very positive things happening in Brigg and across North Lincolnshire."
He revealed that the new footpath to be created close to the River Ancholme will run all the way from Brigg to South Ferriby.  Work is expected to get under way in the next few months.
Coun Waltham also reported visitor numbers at Brigg Heritage Centre topping 8,000 - "a  phenomenal success."
However, the centre is still in need of volunteers willing to give up a few hours of their time. Apply at the centre, in the Angel building, off the Market Place, if you are interested.
