Ambitious plans to create a new relief road off the A18 in Brigg and re-site the Vale Academy from Grammar School Road to Wrawby Road will get their first public airing next Wednesday at a meeting of the Town Council's Planning and Environment Committee.
If approved by North Lincolnshire Council, the relief road will run from Atherton Way to Wrawby Road, offering a much-needed new route into the Springbank Estate, in addition to the bottleneck that is Grammar School Road (near Beech Villas).
What we are all keen to know is where the new link to Springbank will be - and whether there will be more than one entry/exit point. Hopefully this will be revealed at next week's meeting in the Angel.
The Vale is now an academy, meaning it's no longer under the day-to-day control of North Lincolnshire Council as the local education authority.
Clearly the Vale governors, new principal and management team will be central to whether the idea of a new school being built off Wrawby Road proceeds beyond the outline stage. Parents, staff and students will also need to be "onboard" with the proposed switch.
If a new Vale Academy is constructed off the A18, would it use the nearby Recreation Ground as a sportsfield? If so, this may well open up all sorts of opportunities to develop existing facilities at the Rec, and open up new possibilities for grants and funding, as a "dual use."
In simple terms, the school could use the Rec during the week, 9.30am to 3.30pm, and members of the community and sports clubs could do so in the evenings and at weekends.
