BRIGG SEPTEMBER CENTRAL HEATING SWITCH-ON SHOCK

It's been a great surprise to see messages on various social network sites suggesting that Brigg folk are switching on their central heating on September 10 - or thinking of doing so. Makes you think about life decades ago in Brigg council houses with outside toilets across the yard and only coal fires for warmth. It's been a bit autumnal today, a shade wet and miserable. But surely not  that cold!

They've gone weedy nowadays, Nige.
In my younger days. I spent some winters wondering about in shorts and t-shirt.
Spent the festive season cooking on a b-b-q......and even some of us swam in the sea!!
.....but that was in the Arabian Desert with temps of around 40 degrees C....
In present times, to save on heating bills, I just put more clothes on....despite the comments that I look like MISTER MICHELIN MAN!!!
