OLD BRIGG FIRE STATION LOOKS LIKE BECOMING A SHOP

Proposed change of use of the old Brigg fire station in Wrawby Road - opposite the old courthouse - into a retail shop with self-contained flat passed its first stage in the planning process last night. Brigg Town Council is to tell North Lincolnshire planners that it has no objection to the switch.
Brigg Blog wonders whether there are any plans to preserve the old lettering, seen here? The sign has been a part of the street scene beside the A18 for so long. Even if it's not viable to incorporate it in the shop, would some fire brigade museum or heritage tourist attraction be interested in taking it?
The famous sign from Spring's was incorporated into the new riverside store that occupied part of the jam-making factory that replaced it 30 years ago, and a similar thing happened much later when new homes were built where Laynes' garage had stood.
Clearly there's no chance of approaching Lindsey County Council - former operators of the old fire station - as that body was swept away by local government re-organisation almost 40 years ago.
