INDIAN FLUE IN BRIGG GIVEN A BIT OF A TONIC

Brigg Town Council has raised no objections to the new flue at the Diya Spice takeaway in Bigby Street, subject to noise levels being to the satisfaction of folk living nearby. It is now up to North Lincolnshire Council, the planning authority, to make a decision on the application.
At last night's meeting of the Town Council Planning and Environment Committee it was reported that a Justification Statement had been submitted to the unitary authority. It was suggested there was nowhere else for the flue to go and that the former silver structure had now been painted red-brown. The need for the flue to keep the local business running was emphasised.
Coun Ben Nobbs, chairing the meeting, suggested the flue did not stand out as it used to, while Coun Ann Eardley said the business had "done its best" and had listened to what people were saying.

I do hope that Diya Spice receive the OK from NLC after their appeal.

Ironically, the new flue was just as conspicuous as the old flue, before it was painted.

The original flue was changed because it was 'humming' - I assume it was the extractor that was a bit worn and the flue was acting as a echo-chamber.

Diya Spice replaced the whole thing, but NLC rejected it as is was too conspicuous, although it was just as obvious as the old flue and the 'humming' had been cured.

Painting it brown seems an excellent compromise and if NLC now rejects Diya's appeal, I'll be the first in the queue giving the take-away support.
