There will be an old world feel to Brigg on Saturday, June 1 - Pump Blessing to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Queen's Coronation. It start at 11am in the Makret Place.
The first pump to be blessed will be near the Nelthorpe Arms in Bridge Street, followed by the one beside the White Horse on Grammar School Road, South.
Dancing will be provided by the Grimsby Morris Men, the Scunthorpe Tatterfoals Morris Team and the Bootleggers Appalachian Dancers.
Before and after the ceremony, visitors can browse the range of craft market stalls.
This event is being promoted by the Brigg Town Business Partnership - www.briggisbest.co.uk
The communal pumps provided water to Brigg households before piped supplies were widely available. People took buckets and bowls from their homes to collect what they needed. A good proportion of Brigg's population then lived in the courtyards and alleyways that branched off Wrawby Street, Bridge Street and others.
