GROWING DEMAND NOW EQUALS SUPPLY AT BRIGG ALLOTMENTS

For what has been described by Brigg Town Clerk Jeanette Woollard as "the first time in years" there is no waiting list for Brigg allotments.
Her comment came at a meeting of the Brigg Town Council Property and Services Committee last night (Wednesday) as councillors heard it suggested that one plot might become available in the near future.
The waiting list was reduced by sub-dividing some of the plots, giving more people the chance to become tenants. Now it seems supply and demand are balanced.
The Town Council has two sets of allotments - off Redcombe Lane/Atherton Way (pictured) and down Grammar School Road.
If you wish to inquire about taking an available plot at any time, email enquiries@briggmarkettown.co.uk

Well, yes and no.
Didn't I read somewhere a few years ago that the long waiting list was reduced by removing non-Brigg applicants !
If that is the case, there maybe equilibrium in the sphere of Brigg, but non-Brigg allotment seekers are left high and dry....and possibly, there still remains a high demand for an allotment, but this is disguised as they do no qualify for Brigg, and the surrounding parish councils do not have allotments.
It may be an area that our Ward Councillors could examine.
