NEW BRIGG RESTAURANT COMES A STEP CLOSER

Plans to create a new first floor restaurant at Scalinis fish and chip takeaway in Brigg have met with no opposition from the town council.
There were some observations from individual town councillors, but no objections will be lodged with North Lincolnshire Council which, as the district planning authority, will decide whether to grant permission.
Creating the new restaurant will involve a listed building in Wrawby Street.
Coun Chris Dyson suggested a"a nice bay window" at the side of the premises could do with some repair work.
Coun Ben Nobbs recalled this window forming part of the W H Smith premises when the national chain of newsagents had a presence in Brigg.
Coun Jane Kitching made reference to "some overflowing" of waste bins near the premises from time to time.

I agree with the comment re the overflowing waste bins - in the Little Butchery.
If the present chippy is already needing 2 bulk bins, then the added waste from proposed restaurant will increase the need for further bin(s).
There appears to be a design, or structural problem for waste storage in the Little Butchery.
Obviously, Scalani's needs somewhere for waste disposal - do both bins belong to the chippy, or is one 'owned' by the nearby Chinese takeaway?
I am not proportioning blame to any shop-keeper, but is there anyway that such bins could be relocated, or secured/hidden in a compound, so that the inherent attractiveness of the Little Butchery can be appreciated?
Such a move would need the cooperatve effort of Brigg TC/NLC and the shop-keepers.

I passed the bins late this morning and everything was looking neat and tidy. Putting the bins inside a small lean-to/shed would be worthwhile, but, of course, it's a Conservation Area between Listed Buildings and would therefore send the powers-that-be into overdrive. I also took a look today at the out-of-use bay window on the side of the property, to which reference was made last night. I can't say I'd even noticed it before.

Scalani's, or, at least, the building use to be a pub.
The triangular, oriel window at the side of Scalani's (in the Little Butchery) was used as the off-licence part of the pub.

Little Butchery - before Elwes St was so called, it was call The Butchery (had the local slaughter house) - hence Little Butchery - an extension of the Butchery.
