DID YOU SEE SPITFIRE OVER BRIGG TODAY?

We thought we saw, and heard, a Spitfire high over Brigg this afternoon.
One was due to stage a flypast at Kirton Lindsey where major events are planned today (Sept 29) to mark a special 70th anniversary on the airfield front.
But, given the very high wind that's blowing today, we thought the previous plane might be grounded.
So we are wondering whether our old eyes, and ears, may have deceived us.
Confirmed sightings welcome from Brigg and district.
Nothing wrong with surviving Spitfires or Hurricanes, but I have to admit to being keenest on the old Lancaster from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight whenever it graces the skies over Brigg.

The Lanc flew over Worlaby (and perhaps Wrawby) a fortnight ago.

Before the aircraft was called 'Spitfire', it was going to be called the 'Shrew'.

It's designer, R,J.Mitchell thought 'Spitfire' was a 'bloody silly name!'

Just before designing the 'Spitfire', R.J.Mitchell designed the slow, push-prop bi-plane, used in air-sea rescues, the Supermarine Walrus.

May I add that the Walrus was the first British military aeroplane that had - an all metal fuselage, a fully retractable undercarriage and a fully enclosed cockpit for its crew.....all three aspects were incorporated in the Spitfire a year later.
