BRIGG PEOPLE CAN TRANSFORM LIVES - FOR FREE!

North Lincolnshire Council is working with NHS North Lincolnshire to deliver FREE courses that help people living with a long term health problem.
The Expert Patients Programme is a course with six weekly sessions run by trained tutors who are in a similar situation and want to share their experience.
The course is there to help people take more control of their lives by learning new skills to manage their health from day to day. Topics covered by the course include:

  • Dealing with pain and extreme tiredness
  • Coping with feelings of depression
  • Relaxation techniques and exercise
  • Healthy eating
  • Communicating with family, friends and health professionals
  • Positive planning for the future.

Courses are taking place at various venues across North Lincs, including:

  • 1pm to 3.30pm on Fridays from 7 September to 12 October at St Barnabas Church Hall, St Barnabas Road, Barnetby
  • 2pm to 4.30pm on Wednesdays from 13 February to 20 March 2013 at the Carers’ Support Centre, Redcombe Lane, Brigg

Brigg's Coun Rob Waltham, Cabinet Member for People at North Lincolnshire Council, said: “The Expert Patients Programme is really helping people transform their own lives.
“Those who have completed the course say that it has made them feel more confident and improved their quality of life.
