BRIGG FIREWORKS DISPLAY- ANY CHANCE OF IGNITING SOME INTEREST?

It's sad that Brigg is not going to have a communal bonfire/firework display yet again this autumn.
Most people in Brigg will remember going down to the Recreation Ground for communal celebrations that started in the 1970s and ran for many years.
Such celebrations are expensive to mount and require a great deal of voluntary help, with obvious "Elf and Safety" issues to be addressed.
However, we've just glanced through the newly-issued North Lincolnshire Council official events listings for mid-September to the end of the year and discovered that there will be Bonfire Night events on November 5 in Winterton, Barton and Scunthorpe (and probably other villages).
Here are the details if you wish to drive out of Brigg and attend:

Monday, November 5
Gates open 5.30pm, bonfire 7pm, fireworks 7.20pm - Winterton Bonfire - Winterton showground, Mini-fair, stalls, entertainment, refreshments. £5 per car including occupants or pedestrians adults £2, children £1 (under 5s free) 07785 277780.
Gates open 5.30pm, bonfire 6pm, fireworks 6.30pm - Scunthorpe Rugby Club Bonfire - Heslam Park. 01724 843013.
Bonfire lit 6pm - Barton Lions' Bonfire – Baysgarth Park. Admission £3, £1 unaccompanied teenagers, under 16s free if accompanied by paying adult.

Clearly it's far too late to sort anything for November 5, 2012, but is there any chance that some group might come forward and look at bringing back this communal event in 2013? The new traders' partnership is a go-ahead organisation, but Brigg Recreation Ground is so far from the town centre that it's hard to see how traders (apart from food outlets) would gain any direct benefit for what would be a great deal of effort.
