BRIGG JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS COMING TOGETHER WELL

The organisers of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations in Brigg on Monday, June 4 continue to press ahead with their hard work to ensure it proves a day to remember.
Brigg Town Council has now  approved a donation of £2,000 and has also  put aside a further £1,000 for any shortfall if the committee is unable to raise further funds from businesses or  through other grants being sought.
Coun Mel Oades told the Town Council’s monthly meeting in the Angel Suite that this  event deserved support, as it was something everyone in Brigg could attend. The whole town would benefit from Brigg Town Council’s assistance, he suggested.
There will be events in the Market Place in the morning, followed by a parade to the Recreation Ground for afternoon events and attractions.
The parade will form outside Peacock and Binnington’s premises.
The Town Mayor and Mayoress will travel in a classic car; the newly-crowned Queen of the Carnival and her attendants  will be in a horse and carriage.
Fancy dress competition entrants, to be judged by the Town Mayor and Mayoress, will also feature in the parade, as will Koko Ryu students, St John Ambulance Badgers, John Turner’s Black Belt Academy students, Batons of Steel cheerleaders, a Chinese dragon, Scouts and Guides,  Cadets and the Cadet Band and the Royal British Legion (to be invited).
