WILL YOU HELP WITH BRIGG SPRING CLEAN?

Brigg Spring Clean
Saturday 26th May

From Jeanette Woollard, Clerk - Brigg Town Council

Plans are once again underway to hold a Spring Clean Day in the Town, but the date for this year’s event is one week later than usual, due to the delayed National Bank Holiday to mark the Diamond Jubilee.
The Diamond Jubilee weekend in Brigg will commence with the LincSquad Adventure Challenge on Sunday 3rd June. A Voluntary Committee has also recently been formed to organise further events and entertainment for the community, on either Monday 4th or Tuesday 5th June. The week will then conclude with the Brigg Summer Fair, now organised annually by Brigg and District Lions, in the Market Place and the Town Centre on Sunday 10th June.
The Town Council is already making plans for bunting to be erected throughout the Town. The Town’s traders have been asked to consider erecting individual Union Flags outside their shops, and the hanging baskets will reflect the red, white and blue theme. All of these initiatives will ensure that the Town is suitably decorated in readiness for the celebrations, but will undoubtedly be spoiled if the Town and the River are full of litter and look generally unkempt!

CAN YOU SPARE SOME TIME TO HELP?

There will be two clean up sessions on Saturday 26th May 2012, when the main aim will be to target the river, the river side and the Town Centre. Other locations which have been identified as ‘in need of a targeted response’ will also be considered, depending on the manpower available.
Both sessions will commence with a health and safety briefing at the Angel Suite and light refreshments will be provided back at the Angel Suite, after each clean up session.
Assemble at the Angel Suite for:

Health and safety briefing 10am; clean-up session 10.30am-12.30pm
Health and safety briefing 2pm, clean-up session 2.30pm to 4.30pm.

Clearly, the more manpower that is available the more that can be done and I, therefore, hope that you will be able to pledge your assistance at one of the clean-up sessions; and that you will also spread the word and encourage others to come forward and help too. Please use the attached reply slip to indicate which session(s) you will be able to attend, and return it to the Town Council Office as soon as possible.
Thanking you in anticipation of your support.
