BRIGG TESCO - FIRM REPLY

A Tesco spokesman has provided the following response to Brigg Town Council, in reply to the question raised at the last Town Council meeting, and recent public speculation that plans for the new store have been shelved in favour of the previous plan to extend the existing store.
Tesco says: “The company is still progressing its intention to build a new store in Brigg, in accordance with the plans recently approved.”

That's not a firm reply, Scribs.
The operative word is 'progresses', a snail progresses, but a cheetah progresses even faster.
Brigg TC needs to clarify the 'progresses' bit...it's all relative.

We are not privy to the actual question posed to Tesco.
But does the response actually relate to the rumour that the new-build has been deferred for 18 months/3 years?
Since Tesco is a commercial property, planning permission does not expire until November, 2016 - potentially 5 years of 'progressing its intention'.

The reply to me sounds like Tesco-speak - it doesn't actually indicate anything definite.
