AMATEURS' REUNION TRIBUTE

By Bob Taylor

This August marks the fiftieth anniversary of the formation of Brigg Amateurs Football Club. Many of the players who represented the club in the Scunthorpe and District League retain fond memories and still live locally.
It seems an appropriate time, therefore, to have a reunion at Brigg Town F.C. where we played the first ever league match against Ashby Tigers.
At the end of that first season, 1961-62, we were narrowly beaten to the championship of Division Three by Messingham Trinity F.C. but went on to win promotion in the next two successive campaigns. At one time, the club was able to field three teams in the league.
Please try to join us in the Clubhouse at Brigg Town F.C. on Friday evening, April 22nd (Good Friday) at 8.00 pm onwards and bring along any old photographs, trophies etc, which you may have retained so that we can attempt to compile a lasting scrapbook.
Here’s hoping you are able to attend so please help to spread the word about.

FORMER PLAYERS INCLUDE:
Bill Johnson, Cliff Clark, Ray Harvey, Ray Pike, Barrie Briggs, Brian Barker, Rob Taylor, Gig Smith, Barney Johnson, Jeff Burkitt, Brian Clarke, Richard Stack, Ralph Gray, Cliff Streatfield, John Freear, John Boulton, Brian Hyke, Colin Douce, Tim Lingard, Satch Harris, Kev Major, Tony Major, Brian Hagues, John Blanchard, Graham Hunt, Keith Hunt, Martin Hunt, Alan Fuller, Roy Foreman, Jeff Lonsdale, Pete Altoft, Steve Altoft, Graham Southwell, Dak Dowling, Kenny Bowers, Kevin Turner, Carl Sherwood, Brian Oxenforth, Dave Wright, Steve Wright, Frank Pike, Jimmy Hutson, Kenny Roberts, Mike Darby, Frank Morris, Tony Morris, Martin North, Phil Smith, Ian Harris, Tony Jacklin, Jeff Holland, Les Holland, Colin North, Dave North, Jack Dunderdale, Paul Dunderdale, Nick Good, Kev Good, Jimmy Johnstone, Chris Faill and the many 'Younger Amateurs' who have represented the Club at any time.
