When Brigg police station was revamped, getting on for two years ago, they suggested a new sign was on its way. And here it is...the white one. The traditional blue sign was installed when the facility on Barnard Avenue was constructed in the 1970s, to replace the cramped, original police station on Wrawby Street, adjoining the courthouse.

The Barton station still has a traditional blue 'Police' globe lamp....'Evenin' All'....apologies to 'Dixon of Dock Green'.
In Liverpool, police stations are called a 'bridewell'.
1970s (with an 's') Ken. Can't remember exactly which year the new station was opened - think it was 1978. A national story emerged soon after - police messages via the mast at the back of the station were being picked up at a nearby church and 'shared' by the congregation. Listening in to police radio traffic is an offence, but clearly an exception had to be made, in the circumstances, for The Almighty and His Flock. Today we might have said it was not PC - very fitting, as the PCs were receiving the messages, along with the congregation!
