NEIGHBOURS HAVE RESERVATIONS

Plans to extend a property at the far end of Nicolgate Lane, the cul-de-sac off Wrawby Road (previously mentioned by Brigg Blog) have resulted in two letters from neighbours, voicing concerns about what North Lincolnshire Council is being asked to approve.
These letters were read to Brigg Town Council's planning and environment committee at a meeting in the Angel Suite on Wednesday night by the chairman, Town Mayor Coun Ben Nobbs. These objections are in the public domain and can be viewed on North Lincolnshire Council's excellent planning application website portal (access through www.northlincs.gov.uk).
Very briefly, one householder objects to the "sheer scale" of the proposed extension and suggests "a loss of privacy to neighbouring households." Another describes the proposed extension as "huge."
Brigg town councillors had already told North Lincolnshire Council they felt all households in Nicolgate Lane should be made aware of the proposed development. Nicolgate Lane is a cul-de-sac on the opposite side of the road to Sir John Nelthorpe Lower School (formerly Brigg Girls' High School).
Having listened to the contents of the two letters, Coun Tom Glossop said: "We always take careful account of residents' comments."
The Town Council is to tell North Lincolnshire planners that it supports concerns expressed by residents.
However, it should be stressed that the final decision is purely one for the unitary authority.
The applicant went along to the Angel Suite on Wednesday and listened to town councillors debate the issue. If he'd now like to comment, or put his side of the story, please email Brigg Blog - scoopfisher@aol.com
At Nicol Lodge, 3 Nicolgate Lane, he is seeking permission to erect an extension to the front and rear of the property, loft conversion with increased ridge height and dormer, and new double domestic garage.
