CHRISTMAS IS COMING

A progress report on Brigg's town centre Christmas lights will be given on Wednesday (Nov 10) when the Town Council's property and services committee meets in the Angel Suite (7.30pm). There will also be updates on the Angel Suite and the allotments, off Grammar School Road and Redcombe Lane.
Prior to that, starting at 7pm, there's a meeting of the planning and environment committee at which further consideration will be given to the extension planned for 3 Nicolgate Lane, off Wrawby Road, "in the light of comments now received from neighbours."
Town councillors will also decide whether to make observations on the Dog Control Orders, operated by North Lincolnshire Council, including any evidence of dog owners "not behaving in a responsible manner when using a particular area."
Both these meetings are open to the public. They will be held downstairs, in the Lounge, not in the Angel Suite's main room.

Christmas past in the town centre. This year's lights will be switched on early next month. Full details nearer the time. The display of lights is paid for, and overseen, by Brigg Town Council.

I remember last year - little ankle-grippers had turned up to see Father Christmas.
I was satnding at the back while all the big-wigs stood about on the stage.
After a while there was a call for FC.......
From my position (near Barclay's Bank), I could see him emerge from the vicinity of the Angel...walked up the side of the covered stage and then seemed to return back towards the Angel..I thought FC was going to mount the stage, but was never seen again.
FC was hidden from the mass majority by the stage's side covering, which left lots of kids upset that they hadn't seen FC and parents bewildered.

Please can we have a non-shy FC willing to show himself to excited kiddies.
